Merry Christmas & Happy 2004!

Well the ice has finally arrived! Reports show from 5-9 inches of ice on Devils Lake. Every day more and more people are out on the lake trying their luck at some great perch fishing. Although it is too early yet for the heavier permanent ice houses to be moved on to the ice, there are portable fish houses starting to appear as if to decorate the ice for the holidays!

Many of you may know our faithful guide Leonard, I just spoke with him and of course he is on the ice as we speak. He said that he has already caught several nice perch this morning and and just last week caught a 13lb northern or what he calls "shark"! He also has already surpassed over 200 days on lake fishing for this year, and assured me that he will make it 210 by New Years!

We figure our permanent ice house will able to be moved out to the ice within the next week to ten days, so long as the weather stays fridgid! Which I would bet it will!

We are filling up for ice fishing, but still have room if you are interested at trying your luck! We also have days available for guided trips with our local licensed guides.

If you are interested in enjoying a relaxing holiday getaway we also have room in our Mayor Helberg Lodge Bed and Breakfast. Just a few weeks ago we had a couple from Bismarck come and stay with us to celebrate their 20th Wedding Anniversay! Dale and Evi enjoyed bacon, portabella mushroom, artichoke heart and swiss omletes and fresh cranberry scones with devonshire cream for their breakfast feasts. Congratulations to Dale and Evi for 20 years of Wedded Bliss!

Our gift/bait shop has also seen a couple of welcome changes. We are putting on the finishing touches on a new corn burning stove with a place to sit and share stories in the front room. We also have added a few new items to the inventory including some very handsome camo hats, t-shirts and North Dakota items so be sure to stop in and check it out when you are in the area!

We would also like to thank you our patrons for your business in the last year! You make Spirit Water Inn a great success and we thank you for that! We all hope that your holiday season is full of happiness and joy! Hope to see you in 2004!
